A time when the skies fell silent.
The earth stood still.
Phone lines crippled,
The world wide web, grinding to a halt.
A time when our leaders failed us.
When heroes emerged,
And from the ashes,
A proud country stands, unwavering and indomitable.
In life, some events will stay with us forever.
The birth of a child,
The death of a parent,
Landing that first job….
On Sept 11, 2001….Where were you?
The photo theme for this week was time. My first inclination was a ‘clock’ or something, but I thought it would of been too easy. I remembered i kept a Wall Street Journal, from Sept 12, 2001. And I have a panoramic photo of the World Trade Centers that I used as a backdrop. I visualized in my head as to what the look and feel of the photo was, the trick was finding the correct angle, which I experimented for a few minutes before I found an angle to my liking.
On Sept 11, my room mate Justin knocked on my door at around 7am, and told me I had to turn on the TV. Something was going on in New York. We watched the events unfold. Work was canceled that day, and some coworkers and I went to a restaurant by John Wayne Airport to discuss what just occurred. The internet was crippled, trying to get news, and phone lines were just busy. The following few days, the skies were silent, not a plane could be heard or seen in the sky. The country was gripped with shock. Our hubris got the better of us.
